EnergyWise windows cut aged care costs
Running costs are kept low thanks to detailed attention to insulation of aged care units in Noble Park and Frankston, Victoria. Essential to this insulation are EnergyWise uPVC double glazed windows and doors.
“With hundreds of beds catering for the aged and infirm, heating and cooling will be a major cost,” says Ross Wilson of EnergyWise. Each unit incorporates ‘total envelope’ insulation from concrete slab through tightly fitted wall and ceiling batts. Completing the insulation plan are the new EnergyWise windows which, at trade prices, cost little more than timber or aluminium. Significant reductions in heating and cooling costs are projected.
“The right insulation plan also reduces the total building budget, because with higher efficiency envelopes, the costs of appliances for heating and cooling are lower. In the process, the occupants get the bonus of extraordinary comfort and quiet,” Mr Wilson said. Every unit has openable windows allowing individual occupants to enjoy fresh air whenever they feel like it.
The EnergyWise windows use uPVC frames which offer low thermal conductance (U-value) and decades of reliable service life, with neglible maintenance. They never need painting and are virtually impervious to UV and weather damage.
“On the bottom line, EnergyWise uPVC double glazed windows were the logical way to build and the lower cost way to run the many dwellings in this substantial new development,” Mr Wilson concluded.
